It all begins with an idea….

Sharing my photography has always seemed to be just a pipe dream or a retirement plan. I finally decided instead of waiting, to jump in! I’ve always enjoyed being out in nature. I had thoughts of sharing what I see through the camera lens, but I always had an excuse! Was it I pushing it off because of not having enough time? Did I think I wasn’t good enough? Was I too shy to put myself out there? The answer to all of these questions is a resounding Yes!

So now, as I sit in front of my computer creating this site with sweaty palms and the fear my art won’t be liked, I’ve come to the conclusion it just doesn’t matter. All the photos you’ll find on this site are my memories and I’ve now chosen to share them with the world.

The album of bears was taken in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska. We took a small plane from Soldotna to Silver Salmon Creek Lodge for a trip of a lifetime! Once you get to the lodge you get paired up with a bear biologist guide who is with you throughout your stay. These guys are the professionals who eat, sleep and live with bears. They can place you within feet of the travel path of a moving bear from hundreds of yards away. Your time is fully immersed or at least as much as you want to be. We got up and spent an hour or so before breakfast, went back to lodge to eat, and then back out in the field until lunchtime. As you might have guessed, out the door after lunch, back for dinner and out again until late in the evening. Sleep, shower and do it again.

In the 3 days and 2 nights we were there I took almost 11,000 photos. Out of that I think I’m sharing a little over 100 with the world.

I welcome questions or comments, especially if they are constructive because I can only get better from here! Hope y’all enjoy!
